The “Empty Void” series draws from the symbolism of a circle as an image of wholeness and unity.

When gazing into one of these works from the “Threshold Thoughts” series, one notices that the image changes and disappears based on the angle of viewing it. A woven hair web is submerged in translucent wax and diffused acrylic-glass to play with the range between recognition and blurring, or fading away; to encourage a perception of meditation in the present, and to emphasize transcendent reality.

My hair appears submerged in acrylic in compositions of grids. I use colors based on figments and residue from my experiences, for the "Sensory Thresholds" series.





 

My hair appears submerged in acrylic in compositions of grids. I pared them down to the most reductive elements, to approach a simple space of perceiving structure fading away into the painted ether, representing thoughts dissolving, or surfacing between states of the conscious and unconscious mind.
